Supervision is a specialty within the overall practice of counselling and psychotherapy and is perhaps one of the most important components in the development of a competent practitioner. It is within the context of supervision that trainees begin to develop a sense of their professional identity and to examine their own beliefs and attitudes regarding clients and therapy.
Individual supervision is offered on a weekly, biweeky or monthly basis, depending on your needs. Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying) require approximately 1hr of Clinical Supervision for every 10hrs of direct client contact.

Consulting services are offered to therapists in assisting on cases where they need additional guidance and recommendations as well as feedback in a specific intervention or area of concern.
For example, consultation can occur to a team or agency on an area that is out of their scope of practice, or they feel less competent in.
Alternatively, it may be in seeking clinical consultation on topics such as trauma, suicide or self harm behaviours when a team is seeing an increase in such presentations.
The consultant works with other therapists on cases they were assisting but those therapists would ultimately be responsible for their choices after the guidance they receive.
For example, although the consultant may offer guidance, and recommendations for treatment, the receiving therapist is not obligated to follow through in detail.
Consultation is about advice that can be rejected by the consultee. Supervision is about direction and education of a supervisee that is on a more continuous basis. Consultation happens in a specific incident that needs attention.
Psychotherapists use their training in understanding human behavior, mental health, and coping strategies to provide a deeper level of insight and support in these areas. They often integrate therapeutic techniques with coaching principles to address both immediate concerns and long-term personal development.
Here are some types of life coaching that psychotherapists might offer:
Ongoing professional development helps therapists provide high-quality care, adapt to new challenges, and continue growing both personally and professionally.
